Forbes.com Best Places to Raise a Family: Boise!!

Forbes.com reports that Boise is one of the top places for raising a family in their April 4, 2012 edition.

Here’s what they said:

Life is good for many families in the Pacific Northwest’s third largest city, with lower costs and less crime than the region’s two biggest metros, Seattle and Portland. And there’s the local powerhouse football team, the Boise State Broncos.

“For us, it’s all about access,” says David McCauley, a 48-year-old IT professional who grew up on the east coast and moved to Boise with his family 13 years ago. “Skiing in 45 minutes, fly fishing in the Boise River, which also has some cool kayaking spots.  Mountain biking is literally out my door, and we live downtown.” As for the kids? “They ride their bikes all over,” says McCauley. “They’re allowed to do things alone, but they’re never really ‘alone’.”

Let’s face it, life is pretty good here!

March Madness: The Market is Changing in Treasure Valley

Anyone who watches the national 24×7 news probably is quite depressed about our “national” real estate situation.  All I can say is:  You Don’t Know Boise!

One true thing about the real estate market is:  there’s no such thing as a “national” market, there are only “local” markets.

And in March  the Treasure Valley was on fire!  According to ACAR (Ada County Association of Realtors) in Ada County, we are exiting our “recovery” mode and are full into “acute inventory shortage” mode.  The cupboards are bare!

The median price of homes is up 22% just since January of this year.  And we are seeing multiple offers on homes.

What does that mean to you?  Well, if you’re a home seller, there hasn’t been a better time to sell since 2007.  If you’re a buyer, you might want to think about getting now while prices and interest rates are still good.
